We thank you for your interest in partnering with us on the AFRICAN WOMEN OF EMPOWERMENT PROJECT. We have stopped accepting applications for interns in sub-Saharan Africa at this time. (We have had over 100 amazing responses!) If your location is in North Africa or another continent, please feel free to submit your application, guidelines are below.

However, please stay touch and be involved! Spread the word, we are hoping to reach all corners of Africa! If you know of amazing women in your community, you are welcome to nominate them for the AFRICAN WOMEN OF EMPOWERMENT PROJECT. Program Interns:

African Women's of Empowerment Program is seeking 10-15 Program Interns living in Africa, and 5 Interns living in the US (preference for New York, San Francisco, and Seattle areas). Please note this is an unpaid position. This fellowship is a great opportunity for young men and women or other professionals with development experience looking to:

1. Coordinate a women’s leadership program in their country,
2. Build a young women's leadership network and collaborate with national and international organizations,
3. Conduct research and develop publications,
4. Receive training and build skills in social movement organization.

The AWOE has immediate 6-month internships available starting December 2006. The internship requires a minimum of 8 hours per week commitment. Much of the work can be completed at home and on weekends.

To be considered for an AWOE Internship you must be:

• Familiar with national and international women’s programs and organizations
• Have some development experience and/or training
• Skilled with writing and researcher experience
• Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, wordprocessing, and the internet
• Able to work well alone and in teams
• A self-starter and self-motivated
• Free access to the internet and a computer
• Committed to the principles of the AWOE program.
