I was recently interviewed for an upcoming ASMP book and was asked about my business model. I answered: "It's simple: Build relationships and arrive at a win-win. Relationships are my economy, not dollars."

 

Amanda Koster is an acclaimed commercial photographer and producer of multimedia  for national advertising, corporate, editorial and NGO clients. She has an authentic style, knack for storytelling and was featured in PDN as a leading multicultural photographer. She was born in Geneva and her name is pronounced funny.

 

Amanda has worked in over 25 countries in nearly every circumstance. This gives her the ability to gain immediate familiarity and trust while photographing people, helping anyone feel at ease throughout the photo, video or audio shoot.

 

Clients include: The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Int’l YWCA, The New York Times, Newsweek, Entrepreneur, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Business Week. She has shot campaigns for Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, Costco, boutique hotels and many more. Amanda works with the NYU Dept. of Global Health creating multi-media content for software that serves HIV/AIDS patients in Kenya. 

 

In addition to her commercial career she relentlessly persues personal projects. Her book Can I Come with You?” (Bennett & Hastings, 2008) is a collection of over a decade of international social documentary projects, and excerpts from her personal journals. She invited regularly as an industry speaker and representative worldwide.

 

 

Amanda is the founder of SalaamGarage, a foodie, very outdoorsy, down to earth, family and community focused. She is known for having x-ray vision, direct communication style and unbreakable spirit.
